Kadam Week Prompt: Adam in Lima
(A/N: I couldn’t decide between this and another idea, so I’ll be writing that maybe tomorrow. And I am having trouble with the ‘movie prompt’ simply because I don’t have a lot of romantic movies in my library, haha.)
As soon as the clapping died down for the now Schuesters and people began to crowd around them offering their congratulations, Kurt slowly moved out of the circle. Pulling out his phone, he checked his texts and emails, making sure he hadn’t missed anything from Adam. His boyfriend was going to spend the last half of spring break with him before they went back up to NYADA and the grind. But there was nothing, not that Kurt was expecting anything. Adam was probably on the plane and didn’t want to pay for the in-flight wireless.
As Kurt began to pull up the flight details, to make sure he gave himself enough time to get to the airport, he could see Blaine slowly moving towards him out of the corner of his eye. He held back a sigh; dealing with Blaine was beginning to become exhausting. He was tired of the come-ons, the little comments, the touching, and random outings. Kurt was very aware that Blaine was up to something, he just wasn’t sure what. And he didn’t particularly care to know.
Just as Blaine opened his mouth to say something, there was a loud knock on the choir room door before it opened. Everyone had gone silent to see who was visiting them, and everyone save Kurt frowned when they didn’t recognize the man at the door.
The tall, blond man with the best arms in New York, and the bluest eyes he’d ever seen. Kurt’s felt all the tension leave his body at the sight of his boyfriend.
“Excuse me,” Adam said, smiling at the group as he stepped inside. “I’m looking for Kurt Hummel? I was told he’d be down this way?”
A smile bloomed on Kurt’s face as he practically ran towards his boyfriend. Throwing his arms around Adam’s neck, pushing himself up on his toes slightly and pressing three quick kisses to Adam’s lips.
“Oh, my god! What are you doing here? You’re not supposed to land for another hour!” Kurt exclaimed, forgetting about the others in the room.
Adam wrapped his arms around Kurt’s waist, “Well, I arrived at the airport early, and when I checked in, they told me someone had cancelled a ticket on the flight leaving in thirty minutes, and would I like it? Of course I snatched it up!”
Kurt bounced a little, “How’d you get here? I was going to pick you up!”
“I rented a car,” Adam said with a shrug and a smile. “And, I was able to move our reservations up as well.”
Kurt’s jaw dropped before he hugged Adam tightly, “You are the most wonderful man ever.”
Adam grinned, “I don’t know, I’m going up against you. I’m not quite sure how I’m winning that contest.”
Before Kurt could reply, someone behind him cleared their throat, bringing Kurt and Adam out of their own little world. Kurt turned, not bothering to remove his arms. He flushed a little, realizing the entire Glee club was staring at them.
“Oh! Oh, um, everyone, this is Adam, my boyfriend. Adam, everyone,” Kurt said, sweeping his hand across the room.
“Hello!” Adam said cheerily, giving them all a little wave. “I was able to catch your performances, and you guys did a great job!”
“Thanks, Adam,” Mr. Schuester said, smiling.
“Well, this has been fun,” Kurt said, wrapping his arms around one of Adam’s. “You guys did great, but Adam and I have a dinner reservation to make. I’ll see you guys around!”
With that, Kurt dragged Adam from the room. The entire time Adam stood next to him, Kurt made sure to avoid Blaine’s gaze. He could just sense his ex-boyfriend staring at him, trying to catch his eye.
“So, have you ever been to this sushi place?” Adam asked.
“No, but there were a lot of good reviews on yelp,” Kurt replied.
“Oh, well tha–“
“Kurt! Kurt, wait!”
Both Kurt and Adam turned at the same time, Blaine was standing at the end of the hall; he looked both sad and confused.
“Blaine?” Kurt asked, already feeling tired and fearing where this was going to go.
“Kurt…what’s going on?” Blaine asked, slowing to a walk.
Kurt frowned and looked up at Adam before looking at Blaine, “What are you talking about?”
“I mean…who is this guy?” Blaine asked, gesturing to Adam.
“This is Adam… my boyfriend,” Kurt replied, talking slowly.
“But…what about us?” Blaine asked, taking another step forward, extending his hand towards Kurt.
“Blaine…” Kurt said, sighing deeply. “There is no ‘us’ anymore. We’re just friends, and even that isn’t working out so well.”
“Wh-what? What are you talking about? We’re best friends!”
“Blaine, friends don’t tell their friends they look ‘dirty cute’ when they’re having a family crisis,” Kurt said. “I really didn’t appreciate that.”
“I’m sorry, Kurt. Please, I just, give me another chance,” Blaine pleaded.
Kurt rubbed the bridge on his nose and sighed, “I don’t know, Blaine. I’ll have to think about it. I’ll let you know either way.”
“Okay,” Blaine murmured, looking like a lost puppy.
“Come on, Adam,” Kurt whispered. And together, the pair walked down the hall, leaving Blaine behind.
